Firefighters Battle Flames At Philly Apartment Building

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Firefighters battled the flames at an East Germantown apartment building.

Officials say firefighters responded to a call about fire and smoke on the back deck of the building on the 70 block of East Logan Street just before 12:30 p.m.

According to Fire Captain William Dixon, the commander had to pull the firefighters out at 12:55 p.m. and make it an exterior attack. The blaze was put under control just before 2 p.m.

The American Red Cross is now assessing the needs of those displaced by the damage. The official count of people displaced has not been confirmed.

No injuries have been reported.
