Firefighters Battle Apartment Blaze In Wynnefield

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Several residents are displaced after a fire at an apartment building in Philadelphia's Wynnefield neighborhood.

The fire was reported around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at North 53rd Street and West Montgomery Avenue.

Eyewitness News is told at least four units were affected.

"When I looked out the window he told me that the house next door was burning down and to get out, so I just grabbed the stuff that was in my reach and I ran out the back door. So when I walked outside that's when the window busted and the flames were coming towards my car, so I jumped in the car and moved the car," a resident said.

The fire has been placed under control and there are no reports of any injuries.

The American Red Cross is on scene. At this time, they are told at least five people need assistance.

Red Paw is also on scene to help with displaced pets.
