1 Man Dead, Firefighter Injured In Upper Darby House Blaze

UPPER DARBY, Pa., (CBS) –Authorities are investigating what caused a deadly house fire in Upper Darby.

Chopper 3 was over the scene as firefighters battled the flames in the bitter cold.

The fire was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Westwood Lane in Upper Darby, Delaware County.

The Red Cross reports an elderly man died in the blaze. He was the sole occupant of the home.

Twelve cats were also found dead in the house.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
