Fire Sparked By Hot Coals Damages 6 Cars At NJ Stadium

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey state police say hot coals apparently left in a parking lot by a tailgater sparked a fire at MetLife Stadium that spread to six vehicles.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday. That was kickoff time for the game between the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals, and most fans were already in the stadium.

Three of the cars had to be towed from the scene.

The fire remains under investigation, and it wasn't clear whether anyone would face charges in the incident.
