Fire Rips Through Multiple Townhouses In Delaware County

ASTON, Pa. (CBS) -- A 2-alarm fire completely destroyed some homes in Aston, Delaware County overnight.

Fire crews were called to the fire off Linda Lane around 11 p.m.

Two units were destroyed, and two others were severely damaged.

The fire marshal told CBS Philly that the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury and is expected to be OK.

Ken Adelberger told CBS Philly that people were running from door-to-door to alert neighbors to get out.

Two homeowners were here at the time of the fire, while another was at work. The fourth home was unoccupied.

"It was shocking," neighbor Anya Bancroft said. "The fire was so high and spreading so fast."

Crews returned Wednesday morning to extinguish some hot spots that flared up.

The Red Cross of Southeastern PA assisted six families, 11 people in total.

Investigators are working on a cause for the fire.
