Several Injured As Fire Rips Through Gloucester County Apartments

DEPTFORD TWP., N.J. (CBS) – Officials say a three-alarm fire broke out Sunday afternoon at an apartment building in Deptford Township, Gloucester County.

The fire began just before 2 p.m. at the Chestnut Lane Apartments located on the 1200 block of Chestnut Lane.

Officials say four people were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and a fifth person was injured, but remained on the scene.

According to officials, at  least eight units were affected. The extent of damage to those units is not known at this time and the fire has been placed under control.

The Red Cross says they are on the scene providing assistance to displaced families.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
