One Person Dead After Fire Rips Through Condo Building In Mercer County

PRINCETON, NJ (CBS) -- On Wednesday night, a fire that ripped through a condo building has left one elder woman dead and 35 more displaced from their homes.

A fire at a 3-story condo building forced residents out into the bitter cold Wednesday night in Mercer County, New Jersey.

The fire was reported around 9 p.m. at a three-story building on Billie Ellis Lane in Princeton. The fire burned for more than two hours before it was authorities were able to bring it under control.

Larisa Bartone, 73, was found dead in her apartment on an upper floor of the building. Authorities say she died as a result of the fire.

Several units were  badly damaged in the fire and The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents with temporary shelter.

The cause of fire is still under investigation.
