Fire Rips Through Apartment Building In West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Crews battled a fire overnight at an apartment building in West Chester, Chester County.

Flames broke out around 1:30 a.m. along 100 block of West Union Street.

Firefighters arrived to flames shooting out of the second floor of the three-story building.

Three recent college graduates who live in the apartment were not home at the time, but neighbors were forced to evacuate.

"I didn't even put shoes on," said a neighbor. "I was upstairs watching television, got the bang on the door, opened it and I just ran out in the street. Until I figured out what was going on I wasn't going to stick around."

The fire was placed under control.

No was injured in the blaze.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the fire.
