Fire Breaks Out At North Philadelphia Shelter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Approximately 100 people were evacuated after a fire at a shelter in Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The fire was first reported at about 4:30 a.m. at a shelter in the 2600 block of North Broad Street in North Philadelphia.

The building is a former train station that was converted into a shelter.

The fire, which was located on the second floor of the building, was placed under control by about 4:45 a.m.

There were reports of two injuries -- one for smoke inhalation and another for an individual that fell while evacuating.

The majority of the residents were allowed back in the building at about 5:30 a.m. Temporary shelters have been set up for some residents who could not return because of damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
