Final Touches Put On Spruce Street Harbor Park As Opening Nears

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The highly anticipated Spruce Street Harbor Park is beginning to take shape and is expected to be ready by Friday.
Emma Fried-Cassorla with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation says several groups have been working on the pop-up park for months -- and with all the pieces now together at the location, it's officially set to open.
"Floating barges, hammocks, misting stations. We've created a little boardwalk," she says. "It actually will extend the entire length of our walkway and it has boardwalk-like concessions on it so we'll be selling cotton candy and caramel corn and funnel cake and hot dogs, and in addition we also have some arcade games that will be here. We'll also have some lawn games that you can rent. We'll have bacce ball and shuffleboard and all that stuff is right on the river."
Fried-Cassorla says as part of the design, they're paying homage to the history of the area which was once a bustling port.
"Our restaurant is called The Blue Anchor," she says. The Blue Anchor was one of Philadelphia's first taverns and it was located right here at Front and Dock (Streets)."
Fried-Cassorla expects the park to draw thousands to the waterfront. It will remain open until August 31st.
