Final Inning For Link to Philadelphia's Baseball Past

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A sports auction Saturday is expected to be the last official event by the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society.
It'll the swan song for a group dedicated to remembering the Philadelphia A's -- the city's American League baseball team that left for Kansas City in 1955.
"This auction here, unless we try and run one next year - which I doubt - but this'll be the final event of the A's Society as we know it," says 80-year-old Ernie Montella of Warrington.
Montella is the Society's last remaining officer. He says a memorabilia auction Saturday at the Horsham Days Inn will feature items including a brick from Shibe Park. He says the aim is to raise $3,000 to repay members who helped the A's Society pay off IRS debt.
The Society's Hatboro shop closed last year. Its remaining artifacts, on loan from members, remain on display at Spike's Trophies on Grant Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.
