Feds Still Reviewing Penn State-Altoona Student's Bomb Arrest

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The FBI and federal prosecutors have spent the weekend reviewing allegations against a Penn State student from Russia who was in custody on charges that he possessed bomb-making materials when police also allegedly seized marijuana-growing materials from his room.

No federal charges had been filed against Vladislav Miftakhov. He remained in the Blair County Prison on Monday, unable to post $500,000 bond on charges of possessing bomb-making and marijuana-growing materials in his rented bedroom near the Penn State-Altoona campus. That's about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Miftakhov doesn't have an attorney, although Hollidaysburg defense attorney Bob Donaldson has told The Altoona Mirror he expects to be appointed to the case. Donaldson hasn't returned calls from The Associated Press.

Miftakhov was arraigned Saturday on charges stemming from a search of his room Friday by Altoona police.
