FBI Seeks Public's Help Identifying Armed Serial Bank Robber

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- He's dubbed the "Straw-Hat Bandit," and the FBI says he's behind at least ten bank robberies in Bucks and Montgomery Counties over the past four years. Now, they're asking for the public's help in tracking him down.

The name "Straw Hat Bandit" comes from images of what is believed to be his first bank robbery on June 8, 2012 in Horsham.

"We think he's done about ten banks," says FBI Special Agent Adam Sucheski. "There may be more that haven't been conclusively linked, but there's ten that we think he's done."

Sucheski says authorities think he's a white male in his 50s, around 6-feet tall with a stocky build, possibly with access to a blue or teal BMW. In addition to a variety of different hats, he's covered his face during the robberies, but Sucheski says they have a composite sketch of the man.

"A witness was able to get a glimpse of him as he was getting into the blue BMW," he says, "and that's where the composite came from."

Sucheski says information to solve these crimes comes from the public.

"Any little bit of information that you think may be insignificant may actually break open the case," he says.
