FedEx Driver Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-78 In Berks County

GREENWICH, Pa. (CBS) -- A FedEx driver was killed in a crash in Berks County early Tuesday morning, the company said.

The crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 78 in Greenwich, about two hours from Philadelphia. Pennsylvania State Police say the accident occurred between exits 40 and 45.

According to an official from FedEx, the driver of a FedEx tractor-trailer was killed in the crash that involved another tractor-trailer and a passenger car.

State Police say the driver of a disabled car got out and was walking on the highway.

Police say that caused two tractor-trailers to collide when one swerved to avoid him.

The identity of the FedEx driver was not immediately released.

A FedEx official said the company's thoughts and prayers are with the family.

The investigation and clean-up snarled traffic on I-78 for several hours.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
