Family Of Hit And Run Victim Returns To The Scene, Looking For Information

By Tim Jimenez

AUDUBON, N.J. (CBS) --- There have been a number of hit-and-runs in our area in the past month. Today, a South Jersey family joins police to canvass the site where their loved one was killed nearly a month ago.

The spot in Audubon, Camden County is a residential area at West Graisbury and East Atlantic Avenues.

It was here nearly a month ago 36-year-old Christopher Dean was found on the side of the road. He was taken to the hospital where he died. That was the night of April 9th.

It's also here where Dean's family will join Audubon police and investigators with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office this morning, handing out flyers, walking around this neighborhood to try to get information.

The prosecutor's office says an autopsy shows Dean died because of blunt force trauma, consistent to injuries one would suffer from getting hit by a car.

This hit-and-run happened days before a couple of incidents in Philadelphia that killed two boys, a two-year-old and four-year-old. Last week, there was the hit-and-run of a Temple student on her bike near campus that left her in bad shape.

In all of those cases there have been no charges filed yet - even though police have the vehicles involved and have been in contact with either the drivers themselves or the family members or lawyers of the drivers.

But in this case here in Audubon, police are trying to figure out what car was involved and who was behind the wheel.

Anyone with information is urged to call:

Camden County Prosecutor's Office Detective Doug Rowand  (856) 225-8514

Audubon Police Detective Tim Stillman (856) 547-1171

Or through email at ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.
