Family Fun, Education At Annual Fire Safety Exposition And Muster

By Suzanne Monaghan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Fireman's Hall Museum in Philadelphia is gearing up for the 2015 Fire Safety Exposition and Muster on Sunday, October 18.

The event is a great way to have some fall family fun with a flea market, fire engines, food, flu shots and free parking.

Harry Magee is Chair of Communications with the Philadelphia Fire Department Historical Corporation. He says there will be a heavy emphasis on fire education, including what's called a side-by-side burn.

"It actually shows what a structure looks like when it burns down without a sprinkler system," Magee says. "Then we set the other one on fire and that has a sprinkler system, and what happens with that is you see how well the sprinkler system controls the fire."

There event is free. Proceeds from food sales benefit the museum and also go toward purchasing smoke alarms for low income families.
