PHILADELPHI (CBS) --- Remember those reports that teens are done with Facebook?

The social media giant remains the most used social media site among teens ages 13 to 17, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center.

Associate Director of Research Amanda Lenhart says, "Facebook continues to be a dominant platform for teenagers, with 71% of teens saying that they use it."

Facebook was also the site they used most frequently at 41%, followed by Instagram at 20% and Snapchat at 11%.

Pew's data also shows a distinct pattern in social media use by socio-economic status.

"But when you drill down and look at income we do see that lower and middle-income teens they remain most loyal to Facebook and are most likely to say that's the site they use most often," Lenhart says. "Upper income teen are more likely to say they use Snapchat."

They're aided by convenience and constant access provided by smartphones and other mobile devices.

"More than 9 in 10 teens go online daily and about a quarter say they go online almost constantly from their mobile device," Lenhart says.
