Explosives Found During Welfare Check By Police In Bucks County

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (CBS)—Authorities say explosives were found when officers conducted a mental health check on an elderly resident on Tuesday in Bucks County.

The discovery was made around 2 p.m. in the 8700 block of Easton Road in Ottsville.

Police tell CBS3 that investigators found a cache of guns, ammunition and chemical explosives in and around the home. The exact type of explosives are unclear at this time.

"Yea it's a little scary when you hear something like that," said Ed, who lives nearby.

He says the crime scene is just yards away from a propane company.

Ed says the people who live inside the home are quiet and usually keep to themselves.

Those residents have since been taken into custody as police continue their investigation.

According to CBS3's David Spunt, a controlled explosion was conducted late Tuesday night.

No injuries have been reported in the incident.
