Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Philadelphia Region

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Philadelphia and surrounding communities through 8 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters say residents can expect temperatures in the mid 90's on both days — and it will seem much, much hotter. The mercury will drop only into the mid and upper 70's at night.

People are urged to avoid strenuous activity if possible, watch for signs of heat exhaustion, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water.

Officials ask people to check on older friends and relatives; others at risk include those with chronic medical conditions, pregnant women, and small children.
