Ex-NJ Transit Official Sentenced For Taking Bribe

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A former New Jersey Transit supervisor has been sentenced to a year of probation and six months of home confinement for accepting an $8,000 bribe and power washing services in connection with a snow removal contract.

Donna Schiereck will have to wear an electronic monitor. She had faced up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in May.

The 56-year-old Jackson resident agreed to accept the money in return for helping a Lakewood company maintain a snow removal contract. The scheme took place over a three-month period in late 2012.
