Evan Mathis: 'Can I Send Fletcher Cox In My Place?'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Evan Mathis doesn't want to go to the Pro Bowl.

On Wednesday, the Eagles' veteran guard was selected to replace injured guard Jahri Evans in the 2015 Pro Bowl. Mathis, however, tweeted that he wishes his teammate Fletcher Cox could replace him.

Cox was ranked by NFL.com as the 10th best defensive player in football, but unfortunately after a standout season he was snubbed from the Pro Bowl.

"I thought he had a Pro Bowl year," Eagles coach Chip Kelly said of Cox. "He's the one guy that when I was handed the results last night so I could call our players, that I was like, 'Wow.' That was the one that kind of surprised me."

Mathis, whether he likes it or not, will be participating in his second straight Pro Bowl. Cox will have to wait another year.
