Euro-Pro Recalls About 143,000 Vacuum Cleaners

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Euro-Pro is recalling about 143,000 vacuum cleaners, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The CPSC says the recall involves four models of Shark brand Rotator Powered Lift-Away series upright vacuum cleaners. The aluminum wand can disconnect from the vacuum cleaner's handle and remain energized with electricity, posing a risk of electric shock, according to the agency.

The CPSC says Euro-Pro has received 62 reports of incidents in which the aluminum wand disconnected from the vacuum cleaner's handle.  No injuries have been reported, according to the agency.

It says consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vacuum cleaners and contact Euro-Pro to receive a free replacement wand.
