SEPTA Transit Officer Ervis Onuzi Could Be Released From Hospital Friday After Shootout In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The SEPTA transit officer who was struck by a bullet during a shootout in the city's Frankford section could leave the hospital Friday.  Twenty-eight year-old officer Ervis Onuzi was shot Wednesday night near Leiper and Arrott Streets. 

Onuzi underwent surgery at Temple University Hospital.  The chase and shootout began after the gunman shot two women.  Later, a third person showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Two of the victims are in stable condition. There's no word yet on the status of the third person who was hurt.

The gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police may release his identity Friday.
