By the KYW Newsradio Staff

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Legendary morning news anchor Harry Donahue began his well-deserved retirement today, capping a 40+ year career at KYW Newsradio 1060.

Donahue bid farewell to his Delaware Valley listeners during the closing moments of his final daily broadcast, receiving applause a short time later from dozens of colleagues gathered in the KYW Newsradio newsroom for an informal party in his honor.

Then, he gave a brief interview to CBS-3 reporter Walt Hunter.

On the air on his final  morning, Harry was praised (and good naturedly poked) by fellow morning anchor Ed Abrams, by longtime morning Accuweather meteorologist Eliot Abrams, and by Bill Roswell, who was Harry's editor for years.
