End Of 3-Year Long Detour Near For Montgomery County Residents

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A three-year detour in Montgomery County is coming to an end on Friday afternoon.
Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro tells KYW Newsradio the Arcola Road Bridge will re-open Friday, with a ribbon-cutting planned for 2:30 p.m.
The bridge connecting Upper and Lower Providence was closed in August, 2013 when it failed a PennDOT inspection.
It carries about 9,000 cars a day, and is one of a just a few of bridges over the Perkiomen Creek in the Collegeville area.
The closure caused significant, daily traffic back-ups on Route 29, Ridge and Germantown Pikes, and Egypt road.
