Eateries Forge On In Shells Of Shuttered Trump Casinos
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Not quite everything is dead and quiet at the two Atlantic City casinos built by President-Elect Donald Trump and shut down by his successors.
Despite the fact that the Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza are shuttered and dark, each one has a surviving destination restaurant trying to stay afloat without the casino traffic that once kept customers streaming through the doors.
Jim Allen, CEO of Hard Rock International, promises he'll keep the Hard Rock Cafe at the Taj Mahal open, saving 107 jobs.
Further down the Boardwalk, the Rainforest Cafe at the former Trump Plaza is also welcoming customers even though the casino is dark.
Business will be challenging: Allen says the Atlantic City Hard Rock will operate at a loss, but the company is willing to tolerate it.
