Easter Comes Early For Hundreds Of Kids In South Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Kids hunted for candy-filled eggs in shifts all day Saturday in front of the Senior Center on East Passyunk Ave in South Philadelphia.

Ten-year-old Briskla was one of about 700 kids who took part in the annual East Passyunk Avenue Easter egg hunt:

"Well they hide eggs and then we have to go around and find them and then inside the eggs there are candy and golden tickets for prizes."

Renee Gilinger with the East Passyunk Avenue business improvement district says in all, they gave out about 4,000 pieces of candy:

"It's free and we love to do this for the community and for the neighborhood and it's sort of our thank you to all of our wonderful families for supporting our Avenue all year-long."

So what was the best part of the Easter Egg hunt?

"Well really, the best part is just the candy and the surprise when you find it," says Briskla.
