Police have not released the name of the victim or the suspects. No other injuries were reported.

Police said the SUV was reported stolen and was being tracked by the owner. Police also used a helicopter to follow it before the crash, officials said.

The driver and passenger of the stolen Dodge Durango tried to run away and jumped over a fence, according to police. They were ultimately arrested at the scene after at least one of the suspects attempted to hide in a bush, police said.

It took about five hours for police to investigate the crash and clear the debris along the busy intersection.

Susan, who lives near the scene of the crash, said drivers often speed through the intersection.

"You want to know, do you stay, do you go, where do you go that's safe?" she said. "It's very frightening."

The investigation is ongoing.
