Suspect Steals Hundreds Of Dollars' Worth Of Lawn Ornaments In Series Of Thefts In East Goshen, Westtown Townships

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) – Neighbors around Chester County are angry following a string of threats targeting lawn decorations. Police say whoever is responsible has hit at least seven homes around East Goshen and Westtown Townships.

Of the seven reported incidents, two were across the street in the very same neighborhood. Eyewitness News spoke with one woman who had a statue stolen. She just wants the nonsense to stop.

"This is the little fella that's causing all that excitement," Dotti Clarkin said.

Clarkin is down a dog statue. One of her two Labrador retrievers was lifted from her porch last Friday, captured on surveillance video.

"When I saw it on my phone at 12:40 in the morning, I knew what it was," Clarkin said. "Others had been taken, so I wasn't surprised."

Clarkin is one of at least seven reported incidents of thefts in the West Chester area, stretching from April 1 to April 19, with objects valued as high as $300.

"They're frustrated cause they're valuables, so they're definitely frustrated," Westtown Goshen Police Sgt. Mike O'Brien said. "We are asking for anyone with information to contact us."

Clarkin says she doesn't believe these are random acts and that someone's garage or storage unit is filling up with these ornaments. She says to just please put them back.
