Early Signs Point To Mild Start To Winter Across Philadelphia Region

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It looks like we could be in for a slightly warmer start to the winter in the Delaware Valley.
Thanks to a Zonal Flow from the Pacific, CBS 3 Meteorologist Katie Fehlinger says temperatures should stay well above freezing for most of the month.
"Right around the upper 40's, within a degree or two of that either higher or lower," she says. "But, at this point, not only would this mean no major snow storms, but it would also mean that we're not seeing any arctic outbreaks -- for the next couple weeks at least."
Fehlinger says there could be a few days here and there where some cooler air moves in from Canada, but nothing that stays around long-term. She adds that there is one blip on the radar, so to speak.
"There is indication that toward the week of Christmas we may see that go downhill," she cautions. "that the temperatures take another hit, a significant one, and we'd have most of the rest of December to pull out of the 30's maybe."
Here's hoping that doesn't come to pass.
