The Eagles Can Finish 7-9 And Still Make The Playoffs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With just two games to play, three teams continue to fight for the NFC East division title and automatic playoff birth.

At 6-8, the Philadelphia Eagles amazingly still control their own destiny.

Here are two scenarios that would get them a home NFC Wild-Card game on January 10th or January 11th.

1. Beat the Washington Redskins (7-7) at home on Saturday night AND at the New York Giants (6-8) in Week 17

2. Beat the Redskins on Saturday, but lose to the Giants in Week 17:

  • In order for the Eagles to still win the NFC East, the Giants (without Odell Beckham Jr.) must lose this week at Minnesota AND the Redskins must lose in Week 17 at Dallas.
  • This would create a three-way tie, at 7-9, and would eventually lead to record vs. common opponents between the Eagles and Giants (the Eagles have them beat by one game).

If the Eagles lose to the Redskins this week, they're eliminated.
