DUI Suspect Dies While In Custody At Philadelphia Police Headquarters

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence died Friday night while being detained by Philadelphia police.

Police say the 29 year-old man was taken into custody around 3:45 p.m. and brought to police headquarters at 7th and Race Streets.

Six-and-a-half hours later, the suspect was found unresponsive in his cell.

He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause of death is under investigation.

His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
