Drugs Close Two Atlantic City Boardwalk Stores

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Officials have closed two stores on the Atlantic City Boardwalk after police say they were selling synthetic drugs that were banned two years ago.

Police also arrested the owners of the businesses and two clerks on drug charges.

The investigation began last month after two teenagers said they were offered to try a Hookah pen filled with an unknown liquid at Angels and Saints Boutique. One teen passed out and the other became severely confused.

Police say the teens were given a synthetic cannabinoid.

Undercover officers say they were offered the substance in a vegetation state at Boardwalk Outlet.

Officials say they banned synthetic cannabinoids because of their potentially devastating psychological and physical effects.

The business licenses will remain suspended until the criminal cases are heard.
