DRPA Member Expresses Concern Over Unpublicized Meeting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After several board members of the Delaware River Port Authority participated in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing federal investigation of the panel's former ventures into economic development projects, one DRPA member is wondering about the secrecy surrounding that meeting.
Pennsylvania auditor general Eugene DePasquale attended the two-hour session Wednesday in the office of a Philadelphia lawyer by phone.
"We were getting a briefing on… there's a group that's been put together by the DRPA to try and make sure that everything is staying on course as far as the investigation from the grand jury into past actions," he told KYW Newsradio today.
DePasquale notes there wasn't a quorum for the meeting and no action was taken. But he does question why everything was so hush-hush.
Traditionally, legal matters are taken up in executive session, during a regular board meeting, which is announced to the public. The executive session is closed to the public, but nevertheless advertised prior to being held.
DePasquale hopes this kind of mixup won't happen again.
