Driver Killed After Crashing Into Tree In New Jersey

VINELAND, N.J. (CBS) -- A driver is dead after crashing into a tree on New Jersey Route 55, Friday morning.

It happened on the northbound lanes of NJ Route 55, near mile marker 23, just before 8 a.m.

State Police say the driver lost control and veered off the road, crashing into the wooded area.

The Northbound lanes on NJ 55 are closed at mile marker 23 and drivers are being diverted off to Rt. 47. The southbound lanes are also closed at exit 21.

No word on what caused the crash.
