Driver Flees After Striking Pedestrian In Mayfair

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a hit and run driver in Northeast Philadelphia early Thursday morning.

The hit and run happened at about 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Sackett Street in the city's Mayfair section.

According to investigators, a driver fled the scene after striking a 60-year-old pedestrian. The victim was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital with a reported leg injury.

After striking the pedestrian, investigators say the driver fled the scene. According to investigators, the striking vehicle was a black and white Ford F-150 pickup truck with stripes, a black cab on the back and Delaware tags.

The driver was described as a black male, bald and clean shaven. Police say he was wearing a blue security guard shirt with a Guardian logo.

Anyone with information on the driver is urged to contact police.

The hit and run remains under investigation.
