Driver Escapes Snow Plow Fire In Bucks County Wawa Parking Lot

CHALFONT, Pa. (AP) — The weather outside was frightful. So were the flames from the engine compartment.

Police say a snow plow operator escaped harm Tuesday morning when his truck caught fire Tuesday morning as he cleared a convenience store parking lot in suburban Philadelphia.

The truck was burned beyond repair. The Wawa store in New Britain Township remained closed for several hours until the truck could be towed from the parking lot.

Police say the driver, a volunteer firefighter, jumped out of the burning plow truck and tried to put the fire out using several extinguishers, but the blaze continued to burn out of control.

Firefighters eventually snuffed out the flames.
