Driver Dead, 3 Construction Workers Injured In Crash On Pa. Turnpike In Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- A driver is dead and three construction workers were injured in a crash in a construction zone on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bensalem, Bucks County.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike near the Bensalem exit.

Police say the construction workers were apparently using a vehicle to pick up cones to reopen a closed lane when they were struck by the second vehicle.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

One construction worker was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital and another was flown to Temple Hospital. Information about their conditions wasn't immediately available. The third worker was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The crash forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
