Driver Crashes Into Tractor-Trailer After Being Shot In Hunting Park

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities say a man was seriously injured after being shot and then crashing his SUV in North Philadelphia.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Pike Street in the Hunting Park section of the city.

Police say a 47-year-old man was shot multiple times near Greene and Manheim Streets, then drove several miles before he crashed his Chevy Blazer into the front of a parked tractor-trailer.

The victim was trapped inside the vehicle, but was rescued and taken to Temple Hospital in critical condition.

Police say they found multiple bags of crack cocaine inside his vehicle.

Authorities are investigating what led to the shooting.
