Driver Arrested In July Crash That Killed Man, 2 Teens In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Police say they have arrested a driver in connection with a high-speed crash in northeast Philadelphia last summer that killed three people and left a car split in half.

A police spokesman said Sunday that the 20-year-old Christopher Bloomfield was taken into custody at his home, where an arrest warrant was served.

Authorities said he was wanted in connection with "a homicide by vehicle resulting in the deaths of three passengers in his vehicle and severely injuring a fourth passenger."

Police said last summer 17-year-olds Sabrina Rhoads and Yvette Gonzalez died after they were ejected during the July 29 crash along the 10000 block of Sandmeyer Lane in the city's Bustleton neighborhood.

Twenty-year-old Felipe Hernandez was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.

Bloomfield is facing a possible Homicide by Vehicle charge.
