Drive-By Shooter Opens Fire In Busy West Philly Intersection; 1 Injured

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A man is injured after shots rang out out near a busy intersection of West Philadelphia on Thursday morning.

Officers responded around 2 a.m. to 52nd Street and Haverford Ave. where they found a 59-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.

Witnesses say the man was standing on the corner when an occupant inside a dark colored vehicle—maybe a Nissan—drove up and opened fire on the victim.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

One business was open at the time of the shooting. Police say the intersection is one of West Philly's busiest.

Investigators believe surveillance cameras in the area may have captured the shooting.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
