Drexel Launches Program Aimed At Matching Philadelphia Residents With Essential Services

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Drexel University has launched an initiative that connects Philadelphia residents with essential social services.

Jennifer Johnson-Kebea with Drexel's U Connect program, based out of West Philadelphia, says their organization assists local residents in getting connected with a range of services and opportunities.

"They may have needs from anything from housing resources to food resources to thinking about where to send their daughter to a local dance class," she says, "and we'll be able to source all those different activities for them."

Cyndi Rickards with Drexel says this program helps more than just the people from the neighborhoods who come in to utilize their services.

"U Connect is providing an opportunity and service to community members," Rickards says, "but also investing in the future leaders of tomorrow as our students are working with faculty together in a center that really has them understanding the needs of individuals in communities."
