Drexel Falls To William & Mary 85-73

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Marcus Thornton scored 18 points with three assists as William & Mary held on to a 16-point halftime lead to prevail over Drexel 85-73 on Wednesday night.

Brandon Britt and Omar Prewitt each scored 15 points for the Tribe (9-5, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association). Kyle Gaillard added 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.

William & Mary hit 51 percent overall from the field and 66.7 percent from the line.

The Tribe hit 8 of 13 from beyond the arc in the first period and went into the break leading 46-30. They maintained a double-digit lead through most of the second period.

The Dragons (8-6, 0-1) came within seven on a pair of Tavon Allen free throws with under two minutes to play before Thornton finished out the scoring with a 3-pointer and two from the line for the Tribe.

Tavon Allen led the Dragons with 18 points and six rebounds.
