Dredging Work Due To Resume Later This Month In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (AP) — Dredging work should resume later this month at a beach replenishment project in southern New Jersey.

The work at the south end beaches in Ocean City has been at a standstill since May 30, when an engine failed in one of the hopper dredges.

But officials say the engine replacement work is progressing, and the Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District says the dredging work is expected to resume July 20.

The new target date for the completion of the dredging project is Sept. 9.
