Dream Drives: Kids Create at Delaware Children's Museum

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- The bright yellow building housing the Delaware Children's Museum on Wilmington's riverfront is all about STEM education.

DCM executive director Jen Bush is a big kid herself. During the interview, she and CBS3's Meisha Johnson painted on canvases inside the children's art studio, Studio D.

"The DCM is always super interactive, open-ended, child-directed, and process-driven," Jen said.

Kids love to climb inside the Tree Pavilion, which actually is a preserved 5-ton, 350-year-old sycamore tree from the Alapocas Woods in Delaware. "You can't find this at another children's museum," Jen said.

Small children can peek inside a 650-gallon interactive aquarium, where the glass is kid-height. Children can see and even touch aquatic creatures like starfish, sharks, stingrays, and horseshoe crabs, the official state marine animal of Delaware.
