Dragon Boat Racing For A Bucks County Cause

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) - Organizers are getting ready for the Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival which kicks off Saturday morning.

The festival takes place along the banks of Lake Luxembourg in Core Creek Park in Langhorne. Gwen Coverdale of the Bucks County Dragon Boat Association says this event is a charitable endeavor:

"Designed to help "Paddle Out Hunger" in the Bucks County Community. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Bucks County Housing Group which operates three food pantries."

The festival typically draws several thousand people, and dozens of dragon boat races.

There is no admission fee, but Coverdale says guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for the pantries:

"Last year, the Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival raised $31,000 for the Food Pantries. They also collected 3,000 pounds of food. This year, our goal is to raise $40,000."

The day will also feature food vendors, traditional drum demonstrations and Chinese dragon dances.

It all gets underway at 7:30 a.m. For more information, CLICK HERE.
