Dozens Rally At Love Park To Protest Venezuelan Government

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens of demonstrators gathered at Love Park on Saturday forming a human chain in an attempt to make the public aware of the unrest and violence happening in Venezuela.
Maria Salas helped organize the rally. She says the way the Venezuelan government is treating their people is unacceptable.
" There has been a lot of repression in Venezuela," says Salas. "There have been students that are imprisoned, some of them have been tortured and others have been killed."
In protest of what is going on in Venezuela, the group aired their grievances, formed an arm linked chain and prayed for their country.
Herman Parma says some of his friends and family in Venezuela have been attacked for protesting about food shortages and government corruption. So, he says, for him to be able to do it here is a blessing.
"It makes me feel very lucky," Parma says. "It's something we wish would have in our country. Unfortunately, we don't have this freedom to go out and protest and express our feelings about what is going on."
Saturday's rally was just one of many protests going on around the United States to show support for the people in Venezuela.
