Dozens Of Homes Temporarily Evacuated Following Massive Tanker Truck Fire In Camden County

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Families from 30 Pennsauken homes were temporarily evacuated Monday as a tanker truck fire sent burning fuel spilling toward several houses and thick black smoke filled the neighborhood.
"When I looked out the window the only thing I saw was the tires way up in the air on fire and they were coming to my yard," says Rocky Rodriguez who lives on the 8000 block of Wynham Road.
Flames reached Rodriguez back fence before firefighters were able to use chemical foam to extinguish the fire.
Christina Flanagan's home backs up directly to the Route 90 off ramp where the tanker caught fire, so after a house shaking explosion, she grabbed her pets and ran.
"We got out right away, I seen the flames going towards the yard so I was like I have to get out," Flanagan says, "It was scary, I'm just happy we got everyone out okay."
By early evening every resident was permitted to return home with the instructions if they felt sick from lingering fumes they should leave their house and call 9-1-1.
