Dozens Naturalized As U.S. Citizens At Ceremony In Delaware County
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fifty people representing 19 countries become American citizens Wednesday night at a naturalization ceremony in Media, Delaware County.
Even though it's a tough political climate for many immigrants in this country, everyone who took part in the ceremony at the Delaware County Courthouse could not be more proud to become an American citizen.
"I'm very very happy. I'm free now."
They all left friends, family and their native lands in hopes of a better life in America.
"I can do whatever I want to do and become a new person."
Olabosibo Olaseined is from Nigeria.
She says she's been living in the United States for 16 years, and now that she's achieved her goal of becoming a citizen, she's going to go after some other things on her to-do list.
"I am going back to school and I'm going to start my own business," Olaseined says. "It's a very good thing to become a United States citizen."
During the ceremony, many waived their American flags and sang the National Anthem.
