Doug Pederson Expects Fletcher Cox At Minicamp

Fletcher Cox, 25, has skipped all of the voluntary offseason team activities. This isn't necessarily something brand new for Cox, as he missed some of last year's OTAs too.

Complicating the situation, the Eagles' defensive lineman is entering the final year of his five-year rookie contract. Cox, the Eagles' best ascending player, is set to make about $8 million in 2016 after a nine and a half sack Pro Bowl season last year.

Doug Pederson told reporters on Friday that he expects Cox to be at mandatory mini-camp next week.

In April, a report circulated that Cox turned down a $60 million guaranteed contract, something that Cox's agent -- Todd France -- vehemently denied on 94WIP. A week later, Eagles vice president of personnel Howie Roseman addressed the situation.

"We're not trying to play the leverage game. I think if we were, I'd be more careful about my words, calling him a great player, someone that we want here for a long time. This is not one that we want to play a game. We want to sign him. We want to extend him."

Darren Sproles, 32, also skipped all of OTAs and he is also entering the final year of his contract. Pederson believes Sproles will at mandatory mini-camp, with Cox.
